The team at Sunshine Coast Heart Specialists are taking part in the Heart Foundation’s MyMarathon to raise awareness of the single biggest killer of Australian’s – heart disease. Working in the industry we see first hand the impact that heart disease has on people from all walks of life and all ages. Funds raised will go towards life-saving heart research, and work to improve heart disease prevention and care for all Australians. Our sights are set on a world where people don’t suffer or die prematurely from heart disease.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) kills one in six Australians every 12 minutes accounting for nearly 28% of deaths in Australia in 2016; it remains one of Australia’s largest health problems. In 2014/15 more than one in four adult Australians were classified as obese; representing approximately 5 million individuals. In the same year 63.5% of Australians aged 15 years and over were sedentary and had low levels of exercise.
The more people that know about My Marathon 2018, the greater the impact, so please spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family.
